Hike Waqrapukara was built by the Qanchi ethnic group in the Auqarunas period, 1500 to 1000 a.c. The current construction is from the Inca era, in the Wayna Qhapaq period, with the aim of training warriors to defend their leaders and territories conquered in the Andes in the pre-Inca and Inca times; Waqrapukara represents the architecture of power, an Inca sanctuary of the first order, magical and special, out of the ordinary, which denotes an immense political and religious power not yet deciphered.

This day it is necessary to leave early for a bus trip to the Acomayo district, until finally arriving at Qenter Cocha 4000m / 13123f, where it will begin; the 2 hour walk to Waqrapukara. The geography is rugged with incredible natural rock formations and small lagoons, where you can observe the wild fauna of the place, such as condors, llamas, alpacas, vicuñas, wild horses and wild ducks.

The archaeological complex is located sinuously along a rocky promontory, built around two horn-shaped mountain peaks, the site has eight Inca terraces with retaining walls and stone stairs.

It will take three hours of walking back along an old road to the town of Waqui, before finding your private bus that will take you back to the city of Cusco.
